Everything you need
to know about CivicIssue.

From reporting your first pothole to understanding how community upvotes create real change we've answered it all right here. No forms. No helplines. Just answers.

🚀

Getting Started

CivicIssue is India's public civic accountability platform. The formula is simple: report issues with photos & location → community upvotes build pressure → authorities act faster because everything is visible on a public map.

Unlike government portals (AMC CCRS, Swachhata app), we offer zero login for your first report (via Telegram), community support, overdue red flags, and before/after proof. It's designed to make inaction impossible to ignore.

Use our free Telegram bot most Indians already have Telegram. Here's how:

  1. 1Open the bot: t.me/civicissuereportingbot (or scan QR on homepage)
  2. 2Send a photo of the problem (pothole, garbage, dark street, etc.)
  3. 3Share your live location (or pin on map)
  4. 4Add a short description
Done in under 30 seconds. No OTP, no email signup needed for reporting.

Official channels are good backups we often list ward emails/phones but CivicIssue adds the missing layer: collective citizen voice.

Yes! The platform works pan-India. Start in your city the map already covers all of India. Report from Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, Bangalore, or any other city and it will appear on the public map.

🔍

Tracking & Updates

After reporting via the Telegram bot, you'll receive a unique link to your issue page. Bookmark it or log in (optional) to track:

  • Current status (pending / in-progress / resolved)
  • Community upvote count
  • Days pending counter
  • Any official updates

All issues also appear on the public map visible to your entire neighbourhood.

It varies by municipality and how many community upvotes an issue receives. Some get fixed in 3–7 days with strong community support. We display average response times as the platform grows.

Overdue issues (pending more than 30 days) automatically turn red on the map making prolonged inaction publicly visible.
👥

Community & Upvotes

High upvotes = high visibility. Issues with strong community support often get fixed faster because:

  • They're harder for authorities to ignore when publicly visible
  • Media and local citizen groups notice high-upvote issues
  • They surface at the top of the public map for your ward

We also plan ward-level leaderboards in Phase 2 showing worst-performing areas to create even more accountability.

🔒

Privacy & Data

Yes and that's the core of how CivicIssue works. Issues show an exact GPS pin, photo, description, and status publicly.

No personal details are shown publicly (no name or phone number) unless you choose to add them. This creates real civic accountability while protecting your identity.

Resolutions

When an issue is marked as resolved, a second photo is attached showing the fix. Both the original problem photo and the resolution photo are displayed on the issue page side-by-side.

This creates a transparent, verifiable record that the issue was actually fixed not just closed on paper. It also builds community trust over time.
